ALPHABETICAL BRAIN VOCABULARY
Flash Card #33 - Details
WHAT IS YOUR
"AMYGDALA"
AND WHY IS IT
SO IMPORTANT?
Your AMYGDALA (the plural = "Amygdal") refers to the two paired "neuron modules" (clusters of neurons) in your limbic system, which are the size and the shape of two almond nuts.
They activate your "fight-flight-or-freeze" basic survival function and strongly "mediate" (influence) your social and sexual behavior in conjunction with your PREFRONTAL CORTEX ("PFC").
Also it has an influence on other functions such as your sense of smell.
