ALPHABETICAL BRAIN VOCABULARY
Flash Card #81 - Details

WHAT WAS THE
"NEOCORTEX COMPLEX"
OF THE PRIMITIVE BRAIN
AND WHY IS IT
SO IMPORTANT?

The third and final stage of evolutionary development of the primitive prehuman brain, which developed into our distinctly modern human brain, is known as the NE0CORTEX COMPLEX.

The Triune Brain Theory explains how the primitive NEOCORTEX COMPLEX evolved to become the CEREBRUM of modern human brains after many millions of years of development.

Your CEREBRUM is known as your "intellectual brain and also your "executive brain," since it has the capacity to consciously control the vital functions of the rest of your brain and body when it is healthy.

Your CEREBRUM provides your brain's "conscious control" of the rest of your brain and body, including the two main other parts of your brain known as your CEREBELLUM and your BRAINSTEM.

In addition, the large size of your CEREBRUM, proportionally speaking (in relation to the size of your body as compared to all other mammals), is the reason that the human brain is called the "big brain," when compared to all other animals on earth!

And your three pounds of brain tissue
is the most complex form of life in the known Universe!
