ALPHABETICAL BRAIN VOCABULARY
Flash Card #6 Details
WHAT ARE YOUR
"GLIAL CELLS"
AND WHY
ARE THEY SO IMPORTANT?
Your GLIAL CELLS are the approximately 900 BILLION microscopic brain cells in your brain and nervous system that protect your 100 BILLION neurons.
They are the MYELIN SHEETHS that cover the AXONS of your NEURONS and they "conduct" the electrical impulse signals that flow through your NERVE TRACTS.
You can keep them functioning best by consciously developing three essential habits: regularly EATING small amounts of healthy foods and regularly EXERCIZING your body (by doing physical resistance exercizes) and your brain (by doing mental activities that challenge your past skills and memories).
These three health habits can keep your glial cells thick and strong so they will conduct electrical impulse signals in the NEURONS of your NERVE TRACTS up to 100 times faster!
