ALPHABETICAL BRAIN VOCABULARY
Flash Card #58 - Details

WHERE ARE YOUR
"EXPLICIT MEMORIES"
AND WHY ARE THEY
SO IMPORTANT?

Your EXPLICIT MEMORIES are directly accessible to your conscious awareness and involved in learning specific responses to all aspects of your physical, social, and mental environments.

They encode "factual knowledge," such as names, faces, events, or things. Also they depend upon an initial connection between your HIPPOCAMPUS and your left temporal lobe.

Your EXPLICIT MEMORY resources contribute enormously to your self-awareness and your self-control since they are flexible and rapidly retrieved.

However, they are sometimes unreliable.
