ALPHABETICAL BRAIN VOCABULARY
Flash Card #53 - Details

WHAT IS YOUR
"PREFRONTAL CORTEX"
AND WHY IS IT
SO IMPORTANT?

Your PFC or PreFrontal Cortex is the part of your CEREBRUM, which integrates your perceptions, temporarily stores them in your SHORT-TERM MEMORY resources of your VISUAL CORTEX, which is located in your OCCIPITAL LOBES at the rear of your brain.

It evaluates the importance or "relevance" of your perceptions by "pulling-out" memories from your LONG-TERM MEMORY resources and bringing them into your immediate consciousness.

The regulatory "nuclei modules" of your LONG-TERM MEMORY resources are contained in your HIPPOCAMPUS (actually they are two "hippocampi" (located in your LIMBIC SYSTEM), which are involved whenever you evaluate potentially dangerous situations or the anticipated value of a new idea or skill.
