    Nerve projections called "neurites" are connected to each other to form "neuron networks."

    Your "dendrites" are neurites that RECEIVE electrical impulses FROM other nerve cells. Your "axons" are neurites that CARRY electrical impulses AWAY from nerve cell bodies to other neurons or your muscles or your glands.
