SPINAL CORD

YOUR SPINAL CORD
  1. Skull

  2. Brain

  3. Spinal cord

  4. Tail

Your spinal cord is shaped like a slightly flattened cylinder that is a "cable" of nerve cells about 17 inches long.

It descends from your neck about two-thirds of the way down your backbone to your lower back. It carries millions of nerve signals or "messages" between your Central Nervous System (CNS) and your Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).

Your brain and your spinal cord make up your "Central Nervous System" or "CNS."

The rest of your nervous system is your Peripheral Nervous System or "PNS." Together your CNS and PNS are the most complex parts of your body.

Your body is constantly alive with millions of electrical and chemical signals or "messages" which flow from your "PNS" to your "CNS" and back again!
