WHAT IS YOUR
WORKING MEMORY
AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

What is the purpose and function of your WORKING MEMORY?

The purpose of your working memory is to determine what information from your senses and long-term memory system is most important at the moment to protect you from danger or to produce the most comfort and pleasure.

This awesome purpose can be achieved by learning several specific mental exercises, including "simplification exercises," "manipulation exercises," and "support exercises." (Book Source = Working Memory Advantage, see especially Working Memory Quick Hits Manual, pages 280-291)

The function of your working memory is to work with information. It is defined precisely as "conscious processing of information," which means that the "information is on your mind." (Book Source = Working Memory Advantage, page 4)

Working memory gives you the ability to remain focused on one subject while being aware of several other stimulating things in your life. (Book Source = Working Memory Advantage, page 5)

NOTE: See consciousness #1, neurons #2, cerebral cortex #11, and prefrontal cortex #12.
